Floating Suction Excavators Honza
Brief description
The floating suction excavator for mining in larger water surfaces, reservoirs, catchpits and rivers. This excavator is capable to mine even in depths exceeding 10 metres from the water surface.
The floating suction excavator consists of two pontoons – e.g. vessel of catamaran type.
There is a drive unit located on the vessel. The service staff cabin of the suction excavator is located on the elevated connecting bridge.
Mining device of the suction excavator is hung under the vessel body of the suction excavator. Extracted material is then transported through a flexible hose via measuring apparatus into tube system through which the material is then transported to an intended place.
Drive unit consists of a diesel engine and two hydraulic pumps which drive all device of the suction excavator (hydraulic engines). Hydraulic distributions are conducted in pipes or hoses. For drive power of the excavator, there is a biologically degradable hydraulic oil used here. Mining equipment consists of a sludge pump and variable set of distinguish mechanisms; the entire device is lowered down to water by using steel ropes. The floating suction excavator moves across the water surface while being supported by two – four moving winches with ropes that are fixed on the reservoir’s shore.
The suction excavator should be transported as dismantled one. Transportation requires three trucks with trailers (two loads of them are so-called oversized). The suction excavator’s assembly procedure is partly performed on the shore and partly on water surface. For assembly process, there is a crane vehicle of 20 tonnes carrying capacity used here. For laying the suction excavator onto water surface, it is necessary to use either two crane vehicles of 20-28 tonnes capacity or one crane vehicle of the capacity of more than 40 tonnes (depending on local conditions).
